IOS (originally iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple Inc. and distributed exclusively to Apple hardware. It is the operating system currently powers many mobile devices in the enterprise, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.  Internal accelerometers are used by some applications to respond to shaking the device (one common result is the undo command) or rotation in three dimensions (one common result is switching between portrait and landscape mode). iOS shares with OS X some frameworks as the foundation and the kit of the Foundation, however, its toolset user interface is Cocoa Touch instead of Cocoa OS X, so that provides the framework UIKit more than AppKit frame. Therefore, it is not compatible with OS X for applications. In addition, while iOS shares the Darwin foundation with OS X, the Unix shell access is not available to users and applications restricted, preventing IOS be compatible with Unix completely. major versions of iOS are released annually.
